Yesterday's TUS Dr Harty Cup clash between St Flannan's, Ennis and De La Salle, Waterford was overshadowed by a scoreboard controversy.
The scoreboard in Fethard at full-time read 0-20 to 2-14, but it was clarified by referee Tom Loughnane afterwards that St Flannan's had actually won by a point, 0-21 to 2-14. His score also corresponded with that of reporters at the game.
It's believed that the Clare school's 18th point, which was scored by Evan Price, wasn't registered on the scoreboard and led to confusion over the final score. It was a heart-breaking defeat for 14-man De La Salle who thought they had earned a vital point thanks to injury-time goals from Aaron O'Neill and Thomas Carey.
