It may be 25 years ago to the day but many Clare fans will remember it like it was yesterday.
The Banner County’s 1-13 to 2-8 win over Offaly in the 1995 All-Ireland SHC final saw them banishing the legend of Biddy Early's curse to end an 81-year wait for the greatest prize in hurling.
Ger Loughnane’s men held on for the famous two-point victory at Croke Park, where substitute Eamonn Taaffe’s second-half proved instrumental for the victors after the goals of Michael Duignan and Johnny Pilkington looked to have Offaly in the driving-seat.
A proud Anthony Daly collected the Liam MacCarthy Cup on the Banner County’s behalf.
TweetThis day 25 years ago was the best sporting moment of my life. Watched my father cry like a baby with pride. We lined the street and cheered every car the passed through O Briens Bridge home. The 81 year wait was finally over and Clare were All Ireland champions. @DaloAnto #gaa pic.twitter.com/JvCPjWHC66
