Five-in-a-row not relevant to Kerry - Murphy

Paul Murphy says Kerry are not thinking about Dublin’s drive for five.

History is on the line in Sunday’s All-Ireland final as the Kingdom stand between the Dubs and an unprecedented fifth consecutive Sam Maguire Cup success, but Murphy – Man of the Match when Kerry defeated Donegal in the 2014 decider – says the Munster champions will be taking the game on its own merits:

“It’s one game, it’s a chance to win an All-Ireland and tradition won’t come into it for us,” he told RTE. “You don’t need me to tell you that Dublin are an incredible team, they have been for a number of years. What they’re going for, five-in-a-row, it’s not relevant to us, we’re going to win an All-Ireland final.

“What happened last year won’t matter to us come Sunday, what happened two or three years ago won’t matter to us come Sunday.

“We’re going out to try and win this game, five-in-a-row, it won’t matter to this group, we’re just going out to try and win this final.”
