Longford will have to plan without talented forward James McGivney for the foreseeable future after the Mullinalaghta clubman withdrew from the squad.
McGivney has cited 'personal reasons' for leaving the squad, which is a massive blow to the Midlanders chances of promotion with three games in the Division Three campaign remaining.
Meanwhile, Denis Connerton's charges are still without the injured Sean McCormack, but the Longford manager revealed to the Longford Leader that there was better news about McCormack's brother Padraig.
"Padraig is recovering from the head injury he sustained in the early stages of the match against Armagh and his return will be a boost," said Connerton.
"Unfortunately his brother Sean (quad) is still out after suffering a setback in training and his absence from the attack is a big blow. I thought Sean played really well in the win over Offaly which I believe was our best overall performance in the league this season."
