Eire Og and Rathvilly likely to advance
July 11, 2003
Eire Og and Rathvilly are likely to be the two teams to join the first round winners in the Carlow SFC quarter-finals on August 17.
St. Patrick's will face Clonmore and Rathvilly will meet Naomh Eoin this weekend, with the winners facing Eire Og and Fenagh, respectively, the following weekend to decide the pair to advance to the last eight.
Clonmore and Rathvilly, on form, should be the weekend winners. Clonmore will want to atone for an embarrassing defeat against Mount Leinster Rangers, while Rathvilly, who were beaten by Palatine in a repeat of last year's final, should be too strong for the Myshall challenge.
The Rathvilly/Naomh Eoin match will take place this Saturday evening, July 12 at Dr. Cullen Park (8.0) and the clash of St. Patrick's and Clonmore is fixed for the same venue on Sunday evening, also at 8.0.
Extra-time will be played in the event of draws.
