SENIOR MENS REPORT
Dorsey Emmetts 1-11 Clady 1-4
Dorsey Emmetts stormed to victory in this exciting game played at Rory McGee park in Dorsey on a fabulous Monday evening well suited to football. The opening exchanges were keenly contested with both sides fighting for every ball in the middle of the field. Clady got the first score of the evening following a well worked move but Dorsey quickly came back with two excellent points. A momentary lapse of concentration in the Dorsey defence allowed a free Clady player to run through on goal and after when he was surrounded by defenders in the square, the referee awarded a penalty which was hotly disputed by the home team. Clady converted to lead by 1-1 to 0-2 with most of the first half still to play.
Dorsey quickly regrouped and got back level through some great work by the midfield and forward line. Dorsey went into the break a point down though there were signs at this stage that they were beginning to take control. James McKinley, Niall McGee and Gareth Campbell were foraging to good effect in the half forward line and the half back line of Terry Carragher, Damien Reel and Brian McGee were on stopping all Clady attacks. The throw in for the second half was won straight away by Darren Mackin and from that moment on you could sense that Dorsey were not going to be denied on this occasion. Gary Mackin appeared to be on fire scoring points from all angles and Niall McGee was punishing any Clady fouls. Dorsey were totally on top at this stage and Clady looked a beaten team all over the field. A great pass into Niall McGee gave him the opportunity to finish the game off and the veteran marksman made no mistake sliding the ball under the keeper for a goal that put Dorsey out of sight.
Gary Mackin put the icing on the cake with a fantastic point near the end which was the perfect answer to the Clady defenders who at some points appeared to want to foul him out of the game. James McKinley was singled out for special praise by the Dorsey management at the end as his work rate throughout the evening was exceptional. This was however the ultimate team performance and every player gave his all for the team. If this can be repeated throughout the season, a league title is certainly not out of the question. At the very least this performance will make the rest of the division 4 teams sit up and take notice.
Dorsey: J McCann, B Reel, C Mackin, S Campbell, D Reel, T Carragher, B McGee, D Mackin, D McCreesh, J McKinley, C Campbell, G Kelly, G Campbell, G Mackin, N McGee
Derrynoose 3-10 Dorsey Emmetts 0-6
Dorsey were brought back down to earth by a classy Derrynoose outfit on Sunday afternoon. Dorsey had high hopes going in after their excellent performance on Monday night and named an unchanged team but their plans were put into disarray after a double whammy of an early Derrynoose goal and a serious injury to Gary Mackin. Dorsey were always chasing the game after this and a second Derrynoose goal before the half time whistle left Dorsey trailing 2-4 to 0-2 at the break. Dorsey upped their commitment after the break and a couple of early scores reduced to deficit before a devastating blow arrived with another serious injury, this time to corner forward Gareth Campbell. Dorsey never recovered from this blow and Derrynoose seemed to score at will from this stage on. A third goal fifteen minutes from the end killed the game as a contest and though Dorsey battled bravely to the end Derrynoose ran out easy winners. The intensity levels and commitment were well below those shown the previous Monday and the players will have to ask themselves what went wrong on this occasion. The team have two weeks to reflect on this result and hopefully they can rebound with a strong performance against Eire Og next time out.

U16 Report
St Josephs v Cavanakill Emmetts
Thursday saw Cavanakill Emmetts travel to their first away game of the season which ended in another comprehensive victory over a battling young St.Josephs side. The Emmetts panel continue to work hard in training but for this game were short of a few players through injury among other things. Those missing were Neil Cooke, Mathew Small, Canus Carragher, with Shane Davidson attending but unable to play. We look forward to the return of a full panel for Tuesday evenings training.
With the numbers tight this week the 13 a-side game saw a few changes to the Line-out with Michael Garvey and Jordan Duignan taking up midfield positions with the versatile Conor Moley taking on the goalkeeper role for the first half. As was the pattern in previous games the Emmetts started the brighter of the two teams notching up some absolutely outstanding early scores from the full and half forwards. The match continued in this vein with the St. Josephs finding it hard to clear their defence. Any counter-attacks that did progress were quickly snubbed out by the half back wall of Francis Hughes, Brendan Kelly and Eamon Gorman. With Michael White, Aidan Cunningham and Conor Moley tidying up any skirmishes at the back. There were some excellent scores in the first half from all of the midfield and attacking players with a notable goal from Gerard Markey. With St. Joseph's showing flashes of what they could do, the Emmetts had to keep on their toes. The second half continued much as the first with the St. Josephs goal under constant and sustained attack from the Emmetts who looked the stronger of the two sides. A rested Lorcan Quinn and Martin O'Callaghan came on in the second half with Michael Garvey taking up the goalkeeping role allowing Conor Moley to add some excellent scores to the Emnmetts tally. Excellent scores from Sean O'Callaghan, Sean Cunningham, Niall Connolly and Conor Lennon helped the Emmetts storm home. This was an excellent debut for Jordan Duignan and an excellent performance from all players who showed the benefits of working as a unit.
Cavanakill Emmetts players used: Martin O'Callaghan, Michael White, Aidan Cunningham, Eamon Gorman, Michael Garvey, Francis Hughes, Lorcan Quinn, Brendan Kelly, Conor Moley, Gerard Markey, Sean Cunningham, Sean O'Callaghan, Conor Lennon, Niall Connolly and Jordan Duignan.
U14 Report
The U14s lost out to Forkhill on Saturday evening despite an excellent performance by the team. The management team were delighted with the team performance and only some wayward shooting prevented Dorsey emerging with some points to show. If the team can keep up this level of performance and continue their commitment in training, better results are just around the corner.
U12 Report
The U12 match at home last Saturday against Carrickcruppen turned out to be an exciting and close game. Played in ideal conditions, it was the visitors who got off the mark quickest with two goals and a point in succession. This was the signal for Dorsey to get going, and thanks to a Feargal Nolan goal, followed by a point from Brendan Moley and another goal by Shane Kelly the game was on. Carrickcruppen picked up a couple more points giving them the edge, but a lobbed ball in from Brendan Moley found the back of the net to draw level again. Dorsey finished the first half with a well taken goal from Michael Nolan, and the sides went in with the visitors in front by just one point. After the break Carrickcruppen got a couple of easy scores, but the Dorsey back line of Brian Murphy, Lauren Murphy, Francine Kennon and James Quinn started to dominate, and with the help of Eugene Lennon switched from full forward, halted the attacking play and fed balls out to Dorsey's midfield of Shane Kelly and Feargal Nolan, who did great work leading the attack and combining some great passing with the forward line of Aideen Kelly, Brendan Moley, Steven Kelly, Francis Hearty and Michael Nolan. Dorsey's keeper Paul Loughran pulled off some great saves throughout the game and is becoming more assured with every outing. With the visitors edging in front again from a penalty, it was Michael Nolan who upped a gear and produced a point and two goals bringing the teams to a score apart. Such was the intensity of the game, Dorsey were awarded a penalty after some strong defending from Carrickcruppen. Brian Murphy who had been solid in defence, slotted the ball home bringing the teams level yet again. With a few minutes left, both teams frantically looked for the winning scores. Feargal Nolan found the back of the net again for Dorsey, with an exchange of a further point from Feargal and a reply from the visitors in the dying seconds. Dorsey were the deserving winners of the game by a margin of three points. A great team effort on the day.
