Brian Smyth in action for the Westmeath hurlers against Galway

Raharney have been dealt a blow ahead of Sunday's county SHC final as experienced forward Brian Smyth has been ruled out through injury.

Smith dislocated his shoulder in last weekend's SFC semi-final between his club Killucan and St Loman's who won the game.

The Deelsiders take on rivals Clonkill in the decider and Smith's experience will be a massive loss to them and manager Johnny Greville agreed.

Speaking to the Westmeath Examiner Greville said: "I am very disappointed for Brian to miss the final after dislocating his shoulder, as he missed last year's final through suspension.

"His teaching commitments in London mean that this is likely to be his last year commuting over and back, and he has given both clubs great service."
