October 01, 2012Micheal is having a very good season between the posts. He has played championship out the field during other campaigns but has really settled into his duties as club custodian. Micheal is also a great clubman who is a former secretary of the club.
Ray Sheridan- Age 28, Height 5ft 8, Weight 11 stone 7, Position-Corner Back
Ray is club captain and has really revelled in the role leading by example over the last two years. He is playing at corner back, however he is equally at home in the half back or half forward line. Ray has represented Westmeath at all underage levels, captaining the county minors in 2002.
Darren McCormack- Age 34, Height 6ft, Weight 13stone, Position- Full Back
Darren is having a fine season at full back this year. He is a strong footballer who is having his best ever season in the green and gold. Darren was midfield on the junior winning team in 1998. Darren is also a Pollard and Westmeath hurler.
David Higgins- Age 19, Height 6ft 3, Weight 12 stone 7, Position- Corner Back
David has made the number 4 jersey his own this year. He is fast and strong in the air and has a bright future in the game. David hurls with Pollard and Westmeath minors.
Glen Plunkett- Age 22, Height 5ft 10, Weight 12stone, Position- Wing Back
Glen is a half back who loves getting stuck in. Glen is having a very good season and popped up with a number of crucial scores this year and is strong around the breaking ball. Glen represented Westmeath at U16 level.
Ronan Doolin- Age 29, Height 6ft 3, Weight 13stone, Position- Centre Back
Ronan is having another fine year at centre back. Ronan is a strong and tight marking defender who is possibly the fittest footballer in the county. Ronan has represented Westmeath at senior level.
Willie Coyne- Age 26, Height 6ft, Weight 12 stone, Position- Wing Back
Willie is a talented footballer who is having a very good season. He is a very strong carrier of the ball and is a difficult opponent for a forward. Willie has represented Westmeath at U21 and senior level.
Daniel McDermott- Age 29, Height 5ft11, Weight 13stone, Position- Midfielder
Danny is one of the top midfielders in the county due to his strength, speed and ability in the air. He is one to watch and will lead by example in the final. Danny has represented Westmeath at all levels and was wing back on the Westmeath minor winning team in 2000.
Darren Kilcoyne- Age 22 , Height 6ft 2, Weight 13 stone, Position- Midfielder
Darren has been very impressive around the middle sector this year proving what a loss he was to the team last year. He is strong and fast and will not be found wanting on Sunday.
Kevin Brazil- Age 31, Height 5ft 8, Weight 11 stone 7, Position- Wing Forward
Kevin is a livewire forward who is effective inside or in the half forward line. Kevin has been consistently been one of the clubs top scorers since been part of the junior winning team in 1998. Kevin has represented Westmeath at underage and represents Castlepollard on the hurling field.
Derek McNicholas- Age 27, Height 6ft, Weight 13stone 3, Position- Midfielder/Half forward
Derek is well known for his hurling achievements but is equally as effective on the football field. Has been a power of strength for Finea in recent times and has weighed in with a number of scores this season. He represents Lough Lene Gaels in the hurling code.
Andy Dermody- Age 23, Height 5ft 10, Weight 11 stone 7, Position Wing forward
Andy is a talented footballer who is equally comfortable in defence or attack. Andy is strong and fit and will give it all on Sunday. He is an accomplished hurler also where he has represented Castlepollard and Westmeath
Ryan Plunkett- Age 29, Height 5ft9, Weight 11stone, Position- Corner Forward
Ryan is a lively corner forward who is deadly accurate from play and set pieces alike. Ryan has the potential to be a match winner on Sunday and has made the number 13 jersey his own for over a decade. Ryan has represented Westmeath at U16 level.
Eanna Doolin- Age 24, Height 6ft 2, Weight 14 stone, Position- Full Forward
Eanna physical strength and ability in the air made him one of the best full backs in the county over the last couple years, but this year he is causing problems for teams at the opposite end of the field. Eanna has represented Westmeath at underage level.
Niall Kilcoyne- Age 24, Height 6ft 2, Weight 13stone7, Position- Corner Forward
Niall is undoubtedly one of the best forwards in Westmeath and has been the clubs top scorer this year. He is strong, fast and very accurate and is one to watch in the final. Niall has represented Westmeath at all levels. Niall also represents Ringtown in Hurling and has hurled for the county also.
Shane Moran- Age 20, Height 5ft 10, Weight 11 stone, Position- Goalkeeper
Shane is one of the most improved players this year and has developed into a very good goalkeeper. Shane has played a number of league games and is one for the future. Shane hurls with Ringtown.
Shane Fagan- Age 20, Height 6ft, Weight 12 stone, Position- Half Back/Forward
Shane is a strong energetic half forward who can also play in defence. Shane is a player who has huge potential and will be a future stalwart on the team. He had a fine game in the semi-final. Shane hurls with Pollard and Westmeath U21s.
Donie Moore- Age 22, Height 5ft 11, Weight 11stone, Position- Wing Forward
Donie has broken into the championship team last year and is an energetic all action half forward. Donie is a son of Terry who was on the intermediate championship winning team in 1976.
Eric Sullivan- Age 30, Height 6ft 1, Weight 15 stone, Position- Midfield/ Forward
Eric has put in a huge effort this year getting himself back to his best. Eric is one of the best fielders in Westmeath and is very accurate in front of goals. He is a potential match winner on Sunday. Eric has represented Westmeath at minor in 2000 and at senior level also.
Tommy Blake-Age 37, Height 5ft 8, Weight 11stone 7, Postion-Corner Forward
Tommy joined the club this year and has been a welcome addition to the squad. Tommy is a talented corner forward who is deadly accurate and has plenty of experience.
Paddy Cheevers-Age 19, Height 6ft 3, Weight 12 stone 7, Position- Forward
Paddy made his championship debut this year and is a talented youngster. He is strong and quick and has a real eye for goal. The club have high hopes for Paddy.
Colin Farrell- Age 27, Height 5ft 10, Weight 12stone, Position- Half Back/Forward
Colin is a player who leads by example and is a passionate clubman. Colin is equally comfortable in attack and defence and is a very good reader of the game. He's been abroad for much of this year but will not be found wanting if called upon.
Kenny Lord- Age 20, Height 5ft 7, Weight 10stone, Position- Forward
Kenny is a livewire half forward who is extremely fast and has caused problems for backs this year and will for years to come. Kenny is a bright prospect.
Feidhlim Burke- Age 21, Height 5ft 10, Weight 12 stone, Postion- Wing back
Feidhlim made a return to football this season and has played in a number of Division 2 league games. He is very dedicated to training and was a welcome addition to the panel.
Emmett Corrigan- Age 19, Height 5ft 9, Weight 11 Stone, Position-Corner Back
Emmett is enjoying his first full season with the first team and has come on leaps and bounds this year. He is a good young footballer and is only a matter of time before he breaks in to the team.
Graham Plunkett- Age 32, Height 5ft 8, Weight 11 stone, Position- Forward
Graham is a busy wing forward who has great pride in the jersey and has plenty of experience and is also a selector on the team. Graham was a member of the junior championship winning team in 1998.
Ollie Gaffney- Age 34, Height 5ft 8, Weight 12stone, Position- Wing Back
Ollie has plenty of intermediate championship experience for the club and is a player who takes no prisoners. Ollie is a very passionate clubman and operates at wing back on the junior team
Denis Plunkett-Age 24, Height 5ft 8,Weight 11stone, Position Back/forward
Denis returned to the panel this year and has been very committed to training.He has been a regular on the junior team this year and has previously captained the club at junior level.
Vinny Plunkett Age 17, height 5ft 9,Weight 10 stone 7. Position Wing back
Vinny is another youngster with a promising future in the club.He has played really well at wing back for the junior team this year.
Alan Brady- Age 35, Height 5ft 11, Weight 13stone 7, Position- Forward
Alan is an accurate forward with plenty of championship experience. Alan plays full forward on the junior team and is a popular member of the panel. Alan is also a very good clubman who is a member of the finance committee.
Wesley Farrell- Age 32, Height 6ft 2, Weight 13stone, Position- Midfielder
Wesley is a no nonsense midfielder who is a son of the late Sean Farrell who was on the 1976 championship winning team. Wes is midfield for the juniors and is involved on the club finance committee.
Damien Golden- Age 23, Height 6ft, Weight 12stone7, Position- Wing Forward
Damien is a fit and strong player who played numerous league games this year. Unfortunately work commitments has restricted his input recently but has plenty to offer.
