Oisin GAA Under 12's Make it a Double
November 04, 2009

The victorious Oisin Under 12 team
The under 12's Championship was won by Oisin GAA this Saturday with another enthralling victory against St Mary's at Turn Moss. 1997 was the last time the club won the trophy and the kids of 2009 certainly look like having a very bright future if this game has anything to go by.
As in the league final meeting, St Mary's scored first, yet again it was Josh Morrissey. Oisin then responded with a 2 great scores from Michael Rodden and Kory Rafferty. The match was following a similar pattern as the last encounter as both teams tried to gain the initiative. The Oisin lads were just winning their individual battles and managed to create a 12 point gap as they looked to be taking control. But as we have seen before this St Mary's team certainly do not know when they are beaten and narrowed the lead to 9pts as the half time whistle blew.
Half time Oisin 5-0 to St Mary's 2-0
The second half started with St Mary's again starting the half brightly and taking the first score of the half. The Oisin back line of Declan Mallen, Rory McCormack and Niall Broderick were soaking up a lot pressure as St Mary's pressed to get back in the game. But with support from Elliott Melody and Connor Kilcullen they held firm and weathered the storm.
Michael Dolan and Kory Rafferty the Oisin midfield pairing stepped up a gear and were now on fire as they took the game to St Mary's. They both scored some tremendous scores as both sides pressed to get over the finish line. Sean Scally, Sean Neary, James Shennan and Michael Rudden were making life tough for the St Mary's back line that were holding out gamely. But it was the Oisin lads who shone again in what was another tremendous battle between these 2 teams. Ciaran Connelly came on to bolster the attack for the Oisin lads as they finally won the day.

Oisin GAA capped off a fantastic season at underage with doubles for the under 10's, 12's and 14's in league and Championship. The under 10's and 12's won the prestigious full Irish 7 a-side tournaments in the summer. The under 12's were also the All Britain Championship plate winners, held earlier in the year.
The under 14's amalgamated with St Mary's and went all the way to the All Britain final before loosing out to Dulwich Harps.
The future is defiantly looking bright for one of the oldest clubs in the country Oisin GAA. It looks like some of theses lads will be taking the club into a very prosperous future.
