Na Fianna
U12 Season Finale
The U12's brought the curtain down on their season with an accomplished display to defeat neighbours Brackaville in the final of the Sean Robinson Cup. It was a fitting finale for all the lads and the effort they put in. Our thanks to neighbours Clonoe for the invitation.
Senior & Reserve League
Donaghmore gained revenge of sorts on Saturday afternoon when they visited Fr Peter Campbell Park, the reserve game was quite entertaining and despite trailing by 6 points to no score at halftime the Fianna were still playing some attractive football. Poor shooting and some questionable decisions giving Donaghmore the lead. The second half as has often been the case saw the Fianna stage a revival, with Laverty & Corr starting to find their feet at midfield the Blues were keeping the Donaghmore defence under pressure. Goals from P.Laverty & S.Dillon brought the Blues on level terms however Donaghmore had that little bit extra and managed to sneak over the line on a 12 points to 2-5 scoreline. Scorers: P.Laverty (1-1) S.Dillon (1-0) K.Corr (0-2) B.Laverty & B.Whitehouse (0-1 each).
The seniors completely revamped the team for Saturdays game, the wholesale changes perhaps unsettled things and allowed Donaghmore win rather comfortably in the end. The Blues were in the game for much off the match however Donaghmores extra experience saw them through on a 0-16 to 0-7 scoreline. Scorers: S.Hampsey (0-2) S.McNeice, P.McNeice, G.Toner, N.Fox, T.O'Hagan (0-1 each)
With the County Final swiftly approaching you will have noticed the Blue & White flags and bunting that has started to appear in parts of the town. Thank you to those that have helped with these decorations so far, should anyone wish to follow suit and decorate their homes, shops etc they can contact the committee. Thank you also to everyone that has sent messages of congratulations so far.
St Patrick's GFC Club notes
Adult Football:
The seniors defeated Coalisland in the ACL Division 1 with a rampant second half display last Saturday triumphing by 0 07 to 0 15 to move into 5th place just one point behind 4th place Errigal Ciaran. The reserves earlier had an impressive 2 05 to 0 12 win over the hosts at Fr Peter Campbell park. They now sit very impressively in third place in the ACL, just 4 points off the leaders with 3 games in hand.
Secretary statement:
The Committee of Donaghmore GFC would like to clear up any confusion over an issue with the Championship Semi - Final last weekend. There was an opinion circulating that Dungannon GFC refused to give Donaghmore access to their facilities in the week leading up to the match. On behalf of Donaghmore GFC,
I wish to categorically state that this was definitely not the case, and indeed Dungannon were more than accommodating to Donaghmore, both in their treatment of players and management, as well as providing some of our supporters with walking difficulties access to the ground in their vehicles.
Again, I wish to thank Dungannon for their hospitality and wish them all the best for the remainder of the 2007 season. Pauric Gallagher (Secretary).

Edendork St Malachy's GAC Notes
The reserves and seniors had mixed results away to the Moy on Saturday night, the reserves put up an excellent performance, the highlight of which was an exquisite point by Christopher Coulter. Christopher has recovered well from taking part in an Iron Man contest in Dublin a fortnight ago, pictures will be on the website soon. Indeed the reserves could have won the game if Brendan Nelis not missed a great chance in the last kick of the game. The seniors can take heart from a good performance and really only lost the game after two men had been sent off, the team were disappointed at how many frees the Moy were awarded and the manner in which they were won.
The club are hosting the U-16 Semi-Final Championship match between Eglish and Brackaville on Saturday morning at 11:00am. All available members are asked to attend to help steward the game.

The Ladies U-16s won convincingly away to league leaders Stewartstown on Saturday. It was a great all round team performance. Special mention goes to Aoife Molloy, Caoimhe Rafferty and Ursula Hughes. The next game is away to Drumragh on Saturday 13th October at 4:00pm. All players are asked to be at the clubrooms for a 2:45pm departure. There will be no more training on Monday nights.

The club would like to congratulate neighbours and joint youth team Killyman on their great Championship win at the weekend. The club would like to say well done to the team, management and all of Killyman's supporters, especially Sinead Donnelly who has taken plenty of good natured slagging over the years about her beloved Killyman. As one extremely long serving Edendork committee member put it we at least have one team in the parish in Senior football.
Congratulations to reserve player Sean Boyle on starting his own taxi service especially geared towards Edendork members, Boylo's Cabs. Sean is available at the weekends especially Saturday nights so give him a call 6:00pm until very late on 07786984206. Spread the word.
Derrytresk GAC club notes
Senior & Reserve Football
The Seniors were at home last Saturday evening to Dregish. The second half performance from the team was encouraging and we could have went on to win the game. The half time gap however proved to be too much after Dregish had hit 4 quick goals and they ran out the eventual winners. Derrytresk 1-7 Dregish 4-6. It was a better performance than previous games and hopefully something the seniors can build upon.
The seniors are at home to ER O'Neill's at 3.45pm on Sunday.
Training for all players every Tuesday at 7.30pm sharp.
The U21 competition begins soon, anyone interested should contact Seamus O'Neill for further details.

An Mhaigh Tir na nÓg G.A.C. Notes
A.C.L. Division 1B Senior
An Mhaigh 0-15
Eadan na dTorc 0-8
Last Saturday afternoon, at a damp and dismal Pairc Thir na nOg, Moy seniors had to come from behind again to secure two more precious league points. On a day when Moy's unbeaten run was extended to six games, it took a strong second half performance from the men in blue to eventually sweep aside the challenge of Division 1B strugglers Edendork.
For the second consecutive week, Moy were slow to start and allowed the opposition to forge ahead in the first half. Edendork's attacking play early on was most impressive and they were good value for their 0-6 to 0-1 lead after only twelve minutes. Moy's only score during that period came from the penalty spot after wing back Ryan O'Neill had been upended in the large parallelogram. Ryan Mellon's 9th minute spot-kick skimmed the top side of the crossbar and went over for a point.
A wasteful Moy also struck seven wides in this half and had a number of shots which dropped short. Thankfully, though, the homesters began to find their range in the second quarter and points from Kris Kavanagh and Sean Cavanagh (3) helped reduce the deficit by the break. Although Brian McGuckin did convert another free-kick for Edendork late in the half to give his side a 0-7 to 0-5 interval lead, it was obvious that the pendulum in this match was beginning to swing in Moy's favour.
Within three minutes of the restart, the Tir na nOgs were back on level terms thanks to a couple more points from Sean Cavanagh. Both teams were then reduced to fourteen players as Moy's Mark Jordan and Edendork's Brian McGuckin both saw red following a brief skirmish. The dismissals did little to disrupt Moy's momentum and the winners took the lead for the first time in the game when Ryan Mellon and Sean Cavanagh both proved successful from placed kicks.
Edendork's day went from bad to worse as they had a second player sent off approaching the end of the third quarter. The green and golds did respond with a point from play after 45 minutes but it was to be their only score in this half as a resurgent Moy completely dominated the remainder of the contest. With Tommy Conlon and Ryan O'Neill controlling matters at the back, Moy were able to surge forward relentlessly during the final quarter and finished with six unanswered points from free-taker Sean Cavanagh (2), Niall Conlon, Ryan Mellon, Philip Jordan and Mark Currie. Final Score: Moy 0-15 Edendork 0-8.
Team & Scorers: Adrian Jordan; Niall Kelly, Mark Jordan, Tommy Conlon; Ryan O'Neill, Tommy McNicholl, Niall Conlon (0-1); Ryan Mellon (0-3, 1 pen, 1 free) and Philip Jordan (capt, 0-1); Colm Jordan, Colm Cavanagh, Padraig Laverty; Kris Kavanagh (0-1), Sean Cavanagh (0-8, 6 frees), Mark Currie (0-1). Subs used: Conall Laverty (16 mins), Philip McQuade (59 mins) and Adam Currie (61 mins).
League Record: Played 18, Won 8, Drawn 2, Lost 8, Points 18. Remaining Fixtures: v Kildress (home); v Loughmacrory (away); v Dungannon (home); v Edendork (away).
A.C.L. Division 1B Reserve
An Mhaigh 1-7
Eadan na dTorc 0-10
Moy reserves were involved in their third draw of the current league campaign when they played host to Edendork in last weekend's Division 1B curtain-raiser. Of the two teams, Moy were probably more relieved to grab a share of the spoils having played almost the entire second half with just fourteen players.
The riverside men started poorly and, after conceding the opening three points, suffered a further setback when defender Gary Jordan was forced to retire through injury. However, two converted free-kicks from Brendan O'Neill helped raise Moy spirits as did a wonderful save by Barry Gribbin towards the end of the first quarter.
Edendork replied with a pointed free of their own, but Moy went in front for the first time after 21 minutes when a Hugo Mackle cross was fisted to the net by full forward Turlough McKearney. This inpired a strong finish to the half from the Tir na nOgs as free-taker Brendan O'Neill, Conall Laverty and player-manager Declan Cavanagh each kicked fine points to put their team four in front (1-5 to 0-4) at the interval.
Moy were dealt a major blow just four minutes after the restart when midfielder Anthony Rafferty was shown a red card. The home side had been pretty much in control up until that point but struggled thereafter as Edendork made their numerical advantage count. Two more scores from chief marksman Brendan O'Neill helped keep Moy three in front entering the final quarter, but it was a case of backs-to-the-wall for the remainder of the match.
Despite the best efforts of the Moy defence, where Philip McQuade and Adam Currie were very prominent, Edendork fired over three unanswered points to go level by the 54th minute. Both sides had goal-scoring opportunities late in the game with Edendork striking the post and Stephen Hetherington kicking narrowly wide at the other end. The visitors also squandered at least two point scoring chances during those final few minutes, but they say fortune favours the brave and the fourteen men of Moy held out for a well deserved draw. Final Score: Moy 1-7 Edendork 0-10.
Team & Scorers: Barry Gribbin; Philip McQuade, Declan Cavanagh (0-1), Dirar Jomar; Emmett Rafferty, Gary Jordan, Adam Currie; Brendan O'Neill (0-5, 4 frees) and Anthony Rafferty; Conall Laverty (0-1), Matt Murren, Ciaran Campbell; Stephen Hetherington, Turlough McKearney (1-0), Peter McKearney. Sub used: Hugo Mackle (8 mins).
League Record: Played 15, Won 2, Drawn 3, Lost 10, Points 7.
Senior & Reserve Fixture
Tyrone A.C.L. Division 1B: Moy v Kildress this Sunday, 7th October. Throw-in times will be 2.15pm (Reserve) and 3.45pm (Senior).
Snippets
Moy Under 13's travelled to the loughshore last Friday evening for a league game against Derrylaughan. Much to the delight of their team mentors and supporters, the Sky Blue boys turned in a big performance to defeat Derrylaughan on their own home patch and record just their second league win.
Well done to two well known Moy senior footballers who have certainly been making their mark on foreign soil in recent times. Ciaran Conroy is now the proud possessor of a Scottish G.A.A. Championship medal after a string of impressive displays with his victorious team, while Neil Donaghy has added a Boston Senior Championship medal to his collection following some star performances for the very successful Aidan McAnespies Club in the States. Both men are expected to to play a part in Moy's bid for league and championship glory next season.
Congratulations to our near neighbours Killyman on winning the Tyrone Intermediate Football Championship title, last Sunday.
Sympathy
It was with deep regret and much sadness that the committee, players and members of An Mhaigh Tir na nOg G.A.C. and Moy Ladies learned of the death last week of Ciara Conroy, beloved daughter of Tom and Ann, sister of Orla and Grainne and playing member Sinead. To them and the entire family circle, we extend our heartfelt sympathy.
As a mark of respect to the Conroy family, the Under 12 Blitz scheduled for last Saturday morning in Moy and ladies training last week were both cancelled. May Ciara rest in peace. Mary, Queen of the Gael, pray for her.
Marathon Run for Charity
Moy senior footballer Brendan Kelly is currently in training for this year's Dublin Marathon. He hopes to complete the course in under four hours and also raise some much needed funds for the Ulster Cancer Foundation. Preparations have been going well for his big run which takes place at the end of October. Anyone who would like to sponsor Brendan can do so by logging onto www.justgiving.com/bkmarathon or by donating money to him directly.
Show Time!
Anyone from the locality who can sing, dance, act or perform in any way should take note that there are plans to stage a show for the club in the early part of next year. All those interested in performing in a show of this kind or who would like to get involved in some way are invited to attend a meeting in the Auction Rooms, Moy this Tuesday evening (2nd October) at 7.00pm. Everyone welcome!
COOKSTOWN FR ROCKS GFC CLUB NOTES
Fr Rocks lost a narrow contest at home to Galbally on Saturday evening. Cookstown played well throughout the game and deserved at least a share of the spoils, but were left empty handed, due not least to some controversial decisions by the officials. Galbally started the game brightly and kicked the opening two scores of the game. Fr Rocks responded instantly and the movement of their forwards created two free kicks which Raymond Mulgrew converted. A great score from Jason Quinn, and another two Raymond Mulgrew frees put the Rocks in a dominant position, Galbally did respond with an excellent score, however Martin Murray converted another two free kicks which gave Cookstown a deserved half time lead on a scoreline of 0-7 to 0-4. The Rocks had produced an excellent first half display which was marred only by a disallowed Martin Murray score. The ball was judged to have gone wide despite being well within the posts. The second half saw a much improved Galbally take the field and Cookstown found themselves behind after a series of scores and yet another controversial umpire decision. Scores from Jason Quinn, substitute Colm Devine and John Gilmore saw the Rocks trail by two with seconds to go, despite relentless pressure and a goal line clearance the Rocks could not find the net and Galbally held on, leaving Cookstown wondering about what might have been. This was a good display from a Cookstown side which fought hard throughout and merited much more from the game.
Underage training
Training for Under 8s and Under 10s continues at the Mid Ulster Sports Arena on Friday evenings 6:30pm - 8.00pm. The cost involved is £1.50 per night to cover the costs of hiring the synthetic pitch and floodlights. Loch Mhic Ruairi Naomh Treasa
The Senior team returned to winning ways at the weekend courtesy of a 1-13 to 1-7 victory over Dungannon. The side had built up a sizeable lead by half time and despite a revival by the visitors in the second period the team were able to secure a further two points in the race for promotion.
The Reserve team also secured a victory over the visiting Clarkeís on a scoreline of 1-10 to 1-2.
Both teams have a home fixture this Sunday afternoon when they play host to Clann Na Gael. The Reserve game will have a 2:15pm throw in whilst the Senior game will commence at 3:45pm. (Please note both fixtures are subject to change)
The U-13 team have qualified for a league play off against Clogher which is due to be played this Wednesday evening (3rd October) in Beragh at 6:15pm. If the side win this fixture they will travel to play Owen Roes on Saturday morning in the Semi Final of the competition.
Anyone willing to participate in Socr Na Og is asked to contact Martin Donaghy as soon as possible.
The new fundraising initative Club Loughmacrory is well underway to being established and the club would appeal to as many people as possible to support this worthwhile venture.
Lotto numbers drawn last week were 11, 15, 23 and 25. No jackpot winner. Cathy Coyle, Gavin Mc Aleer, Catlin Keenan, Mickey Toner, Eugene O Kane and M Conway (Sperrin View) each receive £10. Jackpot currently stands at £850.
Galbally Pearses GAC Notes
Football
Both the seniors and reserves had good wins away to Cookstown last Saturday.
In the first half the senior team were guilty of missing some good chances whilst gifting the opposition scores at the other end. As a result this left them trailing at half-time by 0-7 to 0-4. But the second half was a different story when a charged up Pearses team outscored Cookstown by eight points to three and with the help of a last minute goal-line clearance they ran out winners by 0-10 to 0-12.
Earlier the reserve team had led the way with a 0-7 to 1-7 win.
This Sunday both teams are away to Donaghmore. Reserve game at 2:15pm and senior game at 3:45pm.

Unfortunately earlier on Saturday the Under 8 team lost their final in Carrickmore, but never-the-less can be proud of another successful year.
