Tyrone U-21 Ulster championship named

February 08, 2006
Joint Tyrone U-21 team-managers Liam Donnelly and Martin Coyle have named their Ulster championship squad. The panel has been trimmed down to 30 players from 41 which featured in a series of challenge games in recent weeks. Three players Raymond Mulgrew, Brendan Boggs and Mickey Murphy have already played for the Tyrone senior side, and they are expected to be key figures in Tyrone's bid for their first Ulster U-21 crown since 2003. In the four challenge played in recent weeks the side had mixed fortunes with wins over Sligo and Derry and defeats to Dublin and Laois. Tyrone face Donegal in the opening round of the Ulster Under-21 Championship on Saturday, March 18th. Interestingly two-thirds of the squad won All-Ireland minor medals in 2004 and will be eligible for the U-21 grade next season. Eighteen clubs are represented in the revised squad with Errigal Ciaran leading the way with 4 players on board, Clonoe and Cookstown both have three named in the final thirty, while Coalisland and Dromore have two representatives apiece.
