Under 18 Boys
An Mhaigh Under 18 lads got off to a winning start in the league last Sunday afternoon when proving too strong for visiting Killeeshil. The Tír na nÓg squad had prepared well for this opening encounter and, much to the delight of the home support, stormed to victory on a scoreline of 2-13 to 1-4.
Despite suffering two major setbacks in the opening half, when talisman centre half back Daniel Beaddie was taken to hospital with a fractured clavicle and another of the Moy defenders was mistakenly sent off a short time afterwards, the Sky Blues still led 1-7 to 0-2 at the interval. Mark Gribbin was the scorer of Moy's first goal.
The Sky Blues stretched their lead in the second half with further points from Patrick Fox, Cormac O'Neill, Eunan Deeney, Harry Loughran and Matthew Dynes, and a goal by Ryan Dynes. Both teams had a player red-carded in separate incidents in the final quarter but, with Liam Kelly proving to be a very capable stand-in goalkeeper, An Mhaigh held out for a comfortable opening win.
Team: Nathan Brady; Liam Kelly, Tiernan Donohue; Eoghan O'Neill, Daniel Beaddie, Jack Kelly; Eunan Deeney and Cormac O'Neill; Patrick Fox, Ryan Dynes, Mark Gribbin; Harry Loughran, Matthew Dynes. Minors defeated by Donaghmore
The minor league got underway on Sunday afternoon and despite a spirited performance the team was defeated on a final scoreline of 1-8 to 0-5. Cookstown had all the play in the opening twenty minutes but failed to convert a series of missed chances. These misses would prove costly in the end. The scoreline at half time was 0-5 to 0-1 in favour of the visitors. In the second half Fr Rocks converted more of their possession into scores, with Leigh McCrackin, Barry Potter and Danny McElhatten all getting on the scoreboard, but a sloppy goal with ten minutes remaining put the game beyond them. This was a spirited performance and the boys will hope to build on it when they visit Derrylaughan on Wednesday evening with a 6:45pm throw in time. The team lined out as follows; Andre Texeria, Ruairi Mullan, O Devlin, J McGarrity, S McGarrity, N Doyle, M Hughes, D McElhatten (0-3, 2 frees), D Maguire, L McCrackin (0-1), C Owens, M Carberry, C Hughes, R O'Neill, B Potter(0-1).

St Pats Cullyhanna of Armagh were the visitors to Killeeshil and it was the away side who claimed victory on the day.
