26 years ago (on Sunday, July 2nd, 1989) to be exact, Tipperary got their hands on the Munster SHC silverware courtesy of a 0-26 to 2-8 final victory over Waterford.

30,241 spectators turned up at Pairc Ui Chaoimh and witnessed an exhibition of point taking from Nicky English.

The Tipp great posted 13 points and Babs Keating's men, captained by Bobby Ryan, later went on to capture Liam McCarthy Cup honours at Antrim's expense.

Kieran Delahunty and Liam O'Connor netted the goals for the losing side.

Like this year, the Premier County qualified for the final courtesy of a semi-final victory over Limerick (4-18 to 2-11) while Waterford overcame Cork on a scoreline of 5-15 to 4-17.

Deise supporters will be hoping that's where the similarities with 1989 end!
