Carlow hurler Craig Doyle admits it was a great honour to line out for his country in the shinty/hurling series.

Doyle made the squad two years ago, but was forced to pull out as his clubs were contesting the county final, but he played an instrumental part in this year's success.

The Carlow star admitted that training alongside some of the biggest names in hurling was also a major plus and it was an occasion he feels that he won't forget in a long time.

"It's great to train and play with players such as Michael Rice, Brendan Maher and Joe Bergin," Doyle admitted to the Carlow Nationalist. "It's the only time an Irish hurler will get to play for his country. It's a major deal."
