Setanta Homes announce their sponsorship deal with DIT hurling club
GAA President Christy Cooney was on hand to announce that Setanta Homes will sponsor the D.I.T. Hurling Club as their quest for Fitzgibbon Cup honours gains momentum.
The deal with the self building company is a significant boost for hurling in the college who begin their Fitzgibbon Cup campaign next week (Thursday 4th February) against semi-final and final weekend hosts NUI Galway.
DIT are boosted by the inclusion of Kilkenny four-time All-Ireland Senior winner Willie O'Dwyer along with Dublin Senior hurlers Tomas Brady, David Treacy and Paul Ryan.
The sponsorship deal is also performance enhanced with a bonus should the team qualify for the Fitzgibbon Cup weekend.
Setanta Homes Managing Director Trevor McGrath is a former DIT student and played on their Fitzgibbon Cup team in the past.
The Wicklow native is thrilled to be able to back his former college in their efforts for glory.
"I have played at many a college hurling championship in the past, and I know the commitment and drive that is embodied in all college hurling players," he said.
"The involvement in the sport from both a personal and corporate level from my perspective is one which I hope will continue for many years to come."
DIT Hurling Club Chairman Kieran Brennan is delighted that the club have managed to secure a sponsorship deal in these tough economic times.
"We are delighted that Trevor McGrath has pledged his support to the DIT Hurling Club under the Setanta Homes brand," Brennan said.
"It is a busy time for Hurling in DIT as we begin our Fitzgibbon Cup campaign on February 4th against NUI Galway.
"We have a tough group with Cork IT and UCD also aiming for quarter-finals, and the sponsorship by Setanta Homes of our teams is a very welcome boost as we strive for Fitzgibbon glory."
