All-Ireland club JHC semi-final: Blackrock stun Kilkenny champs

February 01, 2010
Blackrock gave Limerick hurling a much-needed boost when they shocked Black & Whites of Kilkenny in yesterday's AIB All-Ireland club JHC semi-final at Tipperary's Sean Treacy Park.

Blackrock (Limerick) 1-18
Black & Whites (Kilkenny) 1-11

The Limerick champions can now look forward to an All-Ireland final date with Tyrone's St. Columcille's at Croke Park on February 13 - a game they will be strongly fancied to win.

Blackrock made the better start yesterday with Niall Kennedy popping over five frees, but Black & Whites recovered to lead by 0-9 to 0-6 at the break. But the Munster champions quickly wiped out that deficit on the restart before a kicked Tom Farrell goal in the 38th minute handed the initiative back to the Kilkenny side.

However, Blackrock came strong in the final quarter and took the lead through Aidan Murphy with 12 minutes remaining before the same player put the result beyond doubt with a cracking goal in the final minute.
