Ryan to lead Dublin attack

January 29, 2010

Dublin's Shane Ryan
Shane Ryan has been named at centre forward on the Dublin team for tomorrow's Walsh Cup quarter-final against NUIG in his home club of Naomh Mearnog.

It will be the 31-year-old's first competitive outing for the Dublin hurlers since 2001. He had concentrated solely on football in the intervening years, winning an All-Star award in 2008.
Dublin manager Anthony Daly introduces newcomers Mick May, Colm Hennebry and David Byrne to a defence that also includes the experienced Ronan Fallon, who returns after missing most of last year's championship through injury.

All-Star midfielder Alan McCrabbe is named at corner forward, while team captain Stephen Hiney will start on the bench.

Dublin (SH v NUIG): G Maguire; M May, C Hennebry, R Trainor; D Byrne, R Fallon, M O'Brien; J McCaffrey, G O'Meara; D Curtin, S Ryan, J Kelly; P Carton, K Flynn, A McCrabbe. Subs: A Nolan, S O'Sullivan, N Corcoran, S Hiney, M Carton, S Lambert, T Sweeney, A McEnerney and K O'Loughlin.
