NFL 4: Late goals win it for Wicklow
March 14, 2010
Seanie Furlong and Leighton Glynn struck late goals as Wicklow kept their NFL Division 4 promotion hopes alive with a dramatic victory over Longford at Pearse Park.
Wicklow 2-9
Longford 1-11
Longford, who are still searching for their first win of the campaign, led by 0-6 to 0-3 at the break and extended their advantage through midfielder Kevin Smyth early in the second half. But Wicklow then reeled off five unanswered points per Glynn, Patrick McWalter and Furlong (two) to take the lead.
Longford went back in front thanks to a Francis McGee brace before Furlong fisted home the visitors' first goal. Glenn Ryan's charges immediately replied with a goal from substitute David Barden, but Wicklow had the final say when Glynn grabbed the winning goal with time almost up.
