On Sunday morning last it was with regret that we learned of the sudden passing of William Robinson from Kilsheelan. William was the Tipperary Referees Coordinator at the time of his death. He also served in recent years as Munster Referees Coordinator. William had a long playing career with Kilsheelan-Kilcash, representing the club at all levels and winning County Senior Football medals in 1968 (as captain) and 1972. William served as Kilsheelan-Kilcash Club Secretary for 10 years and was also Vice-Chairman of the South Board. William also played for the Tipperary Senior Footballers and was a selector on numerous Tipperary inter-county football teams. William refereed at all levels in the county before going on to become Referees coordinator. On behalf of the Tipperary County Board, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the Robinson family during this difficult time. May he rest in peace. Such students may often feel the necessity to work during their college years, but these grants will now allow them to work with their College GAA Club in a variety of areas without having to find work outside the college. The Bursaries will be administered by the respective Provincial Councils and that applications for the scheme will be considered by a sub-committee in each province, which will include representatives nominated by the Provincial Council and representatives of Comhairle Ard-Oideachais / Higher Education colleges. It was also confirmed that in total, the GAA would be investing ?260,000 in the scheme this year, with the Provincial Councils contributing ?155,000 of this amount and the balance coming from central resources. Each bursary granted will be for ?1000 / £800 and payment will be made annually in two instalments of ?500 / £400. Further information and application forms for this year's scheme are currently available to download from www.gaa.ie, the various GAA Provincial Council websites and offices and from the Higher Education Colleges website http://he.gaa.ie/.
