Castleconnor GAA Club
C.L.G Caisleáin Uí Conchubhair
Senior League Division 2:
Castleconnor played host to Shamrock Gaels on Saturday evening last in round 2 of the league. In good conditions this game went right to the wire. Castleconnor were on top in midfield and their forward line was out in front but we were not converting enough chances in the first half. At the half time whistle we lead by one point and had extended this to 3 early in the second half but were pegged back by a determined Gaels side. A very well worked goal by Kevin Langan after good Brian Curley work put us back into the lead which we held till the final minute when Gaels worked a goal. From the resulting kick out we won the ball in midfield and from 40 metres Brian Lynn struck over a sweet point on the run to win the game by one point with a scoreline of 1-10 v 1-9. Team C.Gordon, C.Barrett, P.McGuinness, B.Howley, D.Fox, P.Naughton, T.Cawley, K.Tuffy, P.Kilcullen, B.Lynn, K.Langan, B.Curley, N.Fox, A.Cawley, D.Carrabine. Subs: J.McDonnell. The team play the third round of the league with another home game versus St.Marys at 3pm next Saturday. Training continues on Tuesday and Thursday this week.
Division 5:
St. Farnans were visitors to Corballa on Sunday morning to play a challenge match in preparation for the upcoming start to the division 5 league. This was a good runout for those pushing to make the senior team and for those who were not the fittest. Thanks to St.Farnans for the game. Training for the panel continues on Tuesday and Thursday.
