The Minor Footballers played Tourlestrane last Monday evening 22nd July in Round 1 of the Minor A Championship. The game was played with true championship grit and determination. Both teams gave it their all in a game that was one of the best Minor games played in Kilcoyne Park for many a year. We opened the game very brightly and raced into a 2.05 to 0.01 lead after 15minutes. Tourlestrane dug deep and clawed their way back into the game and scored 1.04 without reply. In the second half it was end to end and a very tight finish was guaranteed when Tourlestrane equalised with 10 minutes remaining. We pulled one ahead again shortly after and held out for a 1 point victory 2.09 to 1.11. Credit to both teams for a wonderful display of football enjoyed by the large local support.
