SFC: Lohan shoots down Stokestown

May 19, 2011
Kilbride 1-10
Strokestown 0-8

Gerry Lohan struck for 1-6 as Kilbride saw off neighbours Strokestown to clinch a crucial Senior Football Championship win in Group A last Sunday in Kilbride.

The former Roscommon star was a torn in Strokestown's side all afternoon, as the intermediate champions failed to live with the full-forward, who struck the game's only goal on the eve of half-time.

Conor Devaney opened the scoring for the winners inside the first two minutes through a free and pushed on from there, but through the trusty boot of John Rogers Strokestown were able to stay in touch.

Darren Clabby and Lohan moved their side into a two-point lead, before the latter struck a killer blow late on in the half which saw him race through the centre and slot the ball low beyond John McHugh to leave the half-time score at 1-5 to 0-3.

In the second-half, Rory Molloy and Enda Molloy narrowed the gap down to a goal but down the other end Lohan and Devaney always kept the scoreboard ticking over which was enough for Kilbride to claim victory.
