Clann na nGael 1-9
Padraig Pearses 0-11
Donie Shine's goal proved to be the difference as Clann na nGael captured their 20th Roscommon SFC title at Padraig Pearses' expense at Hyde Park today.
Chasing a first championship success since 1996, there was little separating Clann na nGael and their south Roscommon neighbours up until Shine's goal which arrived in the 48th minute.
Both defences were very much on top during the early skirmishes. 13 minutes had elapsed on the clock before Pearses midfielder Niall Daly opened the scoring while Clann na nGael didn't get off the mark until the 20th minute through a Jamie Fahy free.
With Dublin All-Ireland winner Paul Curran in opposition to his namesake Shane, the winners finished the first half with their noses just in front - 0-4 to 0-3.
The sides were level for the fifth time with 13 minutes left on the clock before county star Shine swung the tie in his side's favour.
Cathal Callinan extended their lead to four points shortly after and they could afford the luxury of conceding three late points to their opponents.
