The 2005 Intermediate Championship Final

September 27, 2010
Inniskeen 1-13, Doohamlet 2-9.

Inniskeen, who had been relegated the previous year, held out for the narrowest of victories in a frantic finish to this pulsating Gormley uPVC intermediate championship final in Clontibret on Sunday October 16th 2005, to win their way back to senior ranks at the first attempt.

Midway through the second half Inniskeen looked to be coasting to victory having opened an eight points gap and dominating play throughout the field but Doohamlet fashioned a fighting finish that saw them bring the matter down to a one point game going into stoppage time. As a contest this game had everything, good defending, good tackling, excellent counter-attacking skills and some wonderful scores that saw the match keep up the strong traditions of excitement and top-class entertainment that the intermediate championship has provided over the years. Inniskeen led at half time by 0-9 to 0-6 and had forged ahead by eight points but a late rally that saw goals by Shane McManus and Greg Duffy left them hanging on by their finger tips in a nerve wrecking finish.
