June 10, 2014
Emyvale GAA Club Notes for Thursday 12th June:
Centenary Celebrations: Thanks to everyone who helped in any way to make last weekend's Centenary Celebrations such a success. Fr. Hubert Martin celebrated a lovely Mass on Friday evening & the procession at the start involved participants from all aspects of the club, current & former mens & ladies players; juvenile boys & girls; handball World & All Ireland Champions; Scor All Ireland Champions; referees; camogie; hurling. Thanks to the Murphy Family musicians, organist, choir, soloists, sacristan, mass servers, reader, those who read the Prayers of the Faithful, Offertory gift bearers, Eucharist Ministers. Special thanks to Anita Mc Quaid for her rendition of Alleluia & composers Siobhan & Martin O'Brien. The year of celebrations was officially launched in Scarna Inn by Paraic Duffy & our sincere thanks to him for attending. This was followed by the launch of the Website & Online Shop. Photographs of every team in the club were carried forward by team members who introduced who they were & the team they played for. The ladies provided refreshments & then members of Scor put on a performance of traditional music, dancing, singing & recitation which showed Emyvale's talent at its best. Thanks to The Scarna Inn for their facilities & John Loughran for the amplification & music.
On Sunday a school's blitz took place & even the wet weather didn't dampen the children's spirits. 100 black & white balloons were released & a Time Capsule was buried containing club memorabilia. Once again the ladies were on hand to provide refreshments & thanks to Dorothy Kelly for her lovely scones. Our thanks to Murphy Videos, Emyvale.net and the Northern Standard for their coverage over the weekend. So many people were involved erecting bunting, flags & signs; decorating The Scarna Inn Lounge; making sandwiches; digging holes; organising, helping in any way they could & we thank everyone of them. It was a great start to the celebrations and augers well for the rest of the year.
