Schools: Goals galore as Bohermeen prevail

The Meath Cumann na mBunscol Girls football finals took place in Pairc Tailteann. There were seven titles up for grabs.

St Ultans NS Bohermeen came out on top in this ten goal thriller to claim the Girls Division 2 title.

There were no points scored in the opening half as Bohermeen went in at the break 5-0 to 3-0 in front. Sarah Mangan and Aoife Rispin raised two green flags each while Lauren Sugrue also got in on the goal scoring act for the Mary Coyne/James Brennan trained outfit. Gaelscoil Eanna's goals came from Lauren Nic an Choiligh, Áine Ní Dhonnagáin and Meadhbh Ní Icidhe.

The first two scores of the second half were also goals. Sorcha Sinéad Ní Laighin narrowed the lead with the opener for Gaelscoil Eanna. Bohermeen joint captain Rispin quickly replied with her third goal of the game. Rispin and Caoimbhe McCabe added the first points of the game and Bohermeen led 6-2 to 4-0 with ten minutes remaining. The Navan school dominated the closing stages and hit five points without reply through Sorcha de Paor (2) , Sorcha Sinéad Ní Laighin (2) and Meadhbh Ní Icidhe to narrow the gap to a goal but thats as close as they got as Bohermeen claimed the title with a goal to spare.

After the game Padraig Farrell presented the Girls Division 2 Cup to Bohermeen joint captains Aoife Rispin and Maria Power.
