Infrastructure committee chairman Noel Dempsey informed delegates at the May Meath County Board meeting in Ashbourne that planning permission for Phase 1 of development at the Centre of Excellence at Dunganny had been approved.

Dempsey said that the next step was the tendering process and that work on the construction of the permanent facilities, consisting of dressing rooms and showers, gym, physio treatment rooms, meeting rooms, offices, cooking facilities etc should start in mid-July.

The facility has been in operation for over a decade with temporary dressing rooms in place.

He expects that major progress would be made by the end of the year and anticipates that work would stay within the budget. Tweet
