IFC: Cilles edged out by Nobber
April 20, 2009

Enda Grogan in action for St Colmcilles
Nobber 1-10
Colmcilles 1-9
For the second year in a row it was Niall Farrell who scored the winner for Nobber over St Colmcilles in this IFC game played in perfect conditions on Sunday afternoon in Slane.
The 'Cilles had two points on the board through Ciaran Kelly and Graham Reilly in as many minutes with Nobber struggling to settle early on.
Frees from brothers Brian and Niall Farrell were separated by another Colmcilles point from Reilly to keep the East Meath men ahead by one and they went on to open up a four point lead thanks to scores from Reilly again, Sean Collier and two excellent Enda Grogan scores.
Nobber finally came to life in the 19th minute with the first major of the game powerfully finished to the net by County star Farrell. This was quickly followed by another Niall Farrell point bringing the game level.
The Cilles came back strong with a goal by Sean Collier and a point by corner back Mattie Metcalfe.
The sides entered half time with Cilles leading 1-8 to 1-6, in what was a good free flowing first half.
The second half did not see the same pace with a lot of frees and it was the end of the free flowing game. Brian Farrell - who later left the game with an injury - scored early to bring the score line to the bare minimum, however, a Ciaran Kelly free put the Cilles back two points ahead. The game was then changed by Damien O'Brien being sent off for the Cilles with a straight red card. The Seasiders struggled at midfield to keep the dominance they had seen in the first half, with the side down to 14.
Nobber went on to claim victory with a point from Andrew Hayes and two from Niall Farrell including the winner for the North Meath men.
Best for the winners were Pauric Weldon, Philip McEntee, Brian and Niall Farrell.
