Conor Frayne Scoil Dara Kilcock is under pressure from Dunshaughlin's Eoin Harkin during the North Leinster Colleges Juvenile B final at Dunganny
A man of the match performance from Summerhill's Conor Frayne inspired Scoil Dara of Kilcock to victory over Dunshaughlin Community College in the North Leinster Juvenile B colleges final played on the astro turf pitch in Dunganny.
Scoil Dara Kilcock 4-15
Dunshaughlin Community College 3-5
Frayne kicked the opening score of the game but Kilcock were stunned with a goal and a point from Dunshaughlin midfielder Eoin Harkin. Frayne levelled with his first goal and the Kildare school took the lead with a Lee Loughnane point and a well taken goal from Daniel Devine. Eoghan Mulhall added their third goal and Kilcock led 3-4 to 1-2 with five minutes remaining in the opening half. But Dunshaughlin fought their way back with two quick fire goals courtesy of Paddy Maher and Conor Oliver to close the gap to two points, 3-5 to 3-3, at the break.
The half time pep talk worked wonders for Scoil Dara as they completely dominated the second period. Adam O'Connell and Jack McNally (2) added points before Frayne got his second major and Dunshaughlin were facing an uphill battle. The Kilcock lads continued to pile on the agony and further points from McNally (2), Paddy O'Sullivan (2), Loughnane, Mulhall and Devine gave them a comfortable victory.
After the game Mick O'Keeffe presented the shield to Scoil Dara captain Daniel Devine.
