Schools: Ratoath back with a bang

Ratoath's return to the Allianz Meath Cumann Na mBunscol competition proved a worthwhile move when they defeated St Pauls of Navan to claim the blue ribbon of Meath primary schools football in the fifth final of the day at Pairc Tailteann. This was the schools first time competing in the competition since 2003.

Ratoath led at the break 1-5 to 0-5. Midfielder Fionn Murphy was central to this lead scoring 1-3. Evan Weir and Tim Puszczewicz completed their first half tally. Brian O'Hanlon was the Navan school scorer in chief with four points while full foward Conor Coogan chipped in with a one. Reecce Quinn put Ratoath in the driving seat midway through the second half with the games second goal and the Dublin border school led 2-6 to 0-6. With five minutes remaining sub Adam Hoey gave Olivers a life line with a well taken goal but thats as close as the Navan boys got and Ratoath held on to claim the title.
