U14FC: Brilliant comeback by 'The Bracks'

For long periods in this game it looked like Longwood were going to add the Division 4 (13 a side) championship title to their league crown, won at the beginning of the month. But Ballinabrackey showed great heart and never say die attitude to come back from six points down with ten minutes left to win this exciting match by seven points at Boardsmill.
Longwood played with the wind in the opening half and led 1-5 to 0-1 after twenty minutes. Glen Brady got the games opening goal while Harry Hogan and Niall Mulvey chipped in with two points each. Ballinabrackey finished out the half the stronger and closed the gap to four at the break with fine scores from Gavin Quinn (2) and David Carroll.
Longwood stretched their lead to 2-6 to 0-4 early in the second half as Brady stole in for his second goal. Between the 10th and the 20th minute the game turned into a shoot out between Longwood's Niall Mulvey and the smallest man on the pitch Ballinabrackey's Sean Kavanagh. In this period Mulvey scored 1-3 while Kavanagh kept his team in touch with two goals.
With ten minutes remaining Longwood led 3-8 to 2-5. But then Ballinabrackey took control. Sean Bannon got the ball rolling with 1-1. Orhan Cully gave his team the lead for the first time with their fourth goal while the outstanding David Carroll finished the last five minutes in brilliant fashion scoring 2-1 to spark wild scenes of jubilation.
