The sudden death of Noel McHale over the weekend has plunged Knockmore GAA into mourning.

Affectionately known as Ike, Noel ran a popular blinds business in Ballina and served the Knockmore GAA club in a variety of capacities.

A fine footballer in his younger days, he was instrumental in many successful events within the club including last year's Strictly Come Dancing.

A member of a highly-regarded Mayo GAA family, Noel's brothers Eddie and Eugene both represented Mayo while Sean, Ray and Aidan have all been involved as players, managers and administrators.

He will be sadly missed by all who knew and admired him in North Mayo and beyond. Tweet
