Ardee CS celebrate with the Lennon Cup
The Lennon Cup Final took place on Friday 22nd of November in Darver against the Marist, Dundalk. ACS were missing their influential captain, Kevin Traynor due to club commitment with Syddan.

Despite this, ACS started well and by half time had opened up a 7 point lead, thanks largely to a well taken goal by Ryan Rooney. Things changed dramatically, however, in the second half with the Marist scoring two goals and an equalising point with only a few minutes to go to send the game to extra time. There were only 2 points scored in extra time.

The Marist went ahead for the first time in the whole match during the first half of extra time, only for Ryan Burns to kick the equaliser with just minutes to spare. A draw match meant that the teams would have to meet again. The replay of the Lennon Cup took place on Thursday 5th of December on another cold night in Darver.

ACS were boosted by the return of captain, Kevin Traynor. Yet again, ACS got off to a flying start and by the 15th minute had opened up a 10 point lead, thanks largely to goals scored by Martin Duffy, Ryan Burns and Ryan Rooney. A terrible refereeing decision saw ACS reduced to 14 men but this did not deter the ACS lads and by half time they were leading 3-6 to 0-2. Conscious of what happened in the second half of the drawn match, the ACS boys were determined not to let history repeat itself. Early scores from Alan Caraher and Ryan Rooney settled the ACS boys. By the 10th minute the game was over as a contest and ACS were afforded the luxury of giving 5 subs a game.

ACS closed the game out and they won comfortably on a scoreline of ACS 3-10 Marist, Dundalk 0-5. Mr. Gilsenan would like to thank each and every one of the 35 players on the panel, aswell as Terry Donegan Snr, Adrian Conlon and Mr. Corcoran (physio) for their huge commitment and work which has been ongoing since September.
