Patrickswell Club notes
The Junior B footballers have reached the City Final after a superb victory over Na Piarasaigh at Clarina. The game was played in perfect conditions and there was drama throughout. Patrickswell were stronger in the opening stages and registered the first point of the contest. However, Na Piarsaigh established a firm foothold and replied with four points of their own. The Well were unfazed and scored a goal after fifteen minutes to equalise. The remainder of the half was keenly contested, but Na Piarsaigh struck a late goal to establish a 1-7 to 1-3 lead.
Patrickswell started the second half with great purpose. Within three minutes, the Well had claimed two goals and turned the match on its head. Na Piarsaigh eventually stemmed the tide and responded with a goal and point. However, their resistance faded like the evening sunlight. Patrickswell were magnificent in the closing quarter and blitzed their opponents with an impressive haul of 1-6. Na Piarsaigh were unable to launch a late revival. The final result was a 4-9 to 2-9 victory in near darkness. Congratulations to Michael Woulfe and his team. Good luck in the final.
The Under 21 hurlers beat Na Piarsaigh by 2-13 to 1-13 in the City Hurling Championship. The Well will meet neighbours Ballybrown in the final.
