DROMCOLLOGHER/ BROADFORD WIN BACK THE COUNTY JUNIOR B FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE THE FIRST SINCE 1992

Pallasgreen 1-09
This was a game of two halfs with Dromcollogher/ Broadford leading at half-time by 2-6 to 0-2, with two goal coming from Dearan Reidy in the first half, Pallasgreen scored 1-7 in the second half compared to Dromcollogher/ Broadford 0-5. This was played on last Saturday afternoon, in Knocklong in very good conditions.
There is a few survivors from the last time that Dromcollogher/ Broadford win the County Junior B Football Championship back in 1992 and they are Maurice McCarthy present club secretary played half-back on the team, John Brudair manager of the present senior football team plays centre-forward on the current Junior B Football team and he played midfield back in 1992.
Dinny Scollard manager of the team played half-forward on the team in 1992 and Eamon Scollard who played as a goalkeeper and is now the sub goal-keeper for both for the senior and junior teams here in the club.
Kevin Noonan scored the first two points for Dromcollogher/ Broadford both coming from play and then Timmy Stokes of Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored another point to put three points between the sides inside the first ten minutes of the game. Aidan Butler of Dromcollogher/ Broadford and Keith Ryan of Pallasgreen exchanged points. Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored two more points coming from John O'Kelly and Aidan Butler.
Dearan Reidy of Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the first two goals in the first half with 23 minutes on the clock to leave eight points between the sides and then Joe O'Keeffe of Pallasgreen replied with a point. Dearan Reidy of Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored his second goal of the game with 27 minutes gone in the game to leave 10 points between the sides at the break.
Pallasgreen scored the first 1-1 of the second half both scores coming from Mark Ryan to leave two goals between the sides. Ben Noonan of Dromcollogher/ Broadford and Mark Ryan of Pallasgreen exchanged points and then Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored two more points coming from Ben Noonan and Aidan Butler. Joe O'Keeffe of Pallasgreen and John O'Kelly of Dromcollogher/ Broadford exchanged points.
David O'Brien of Pallasgreen and Kevin Noonan of Dromcollogher/ Broadford exchanged points to leave eight points between the sides with 54 minutes gone in the game. Pallasgreen replied with three points coming from Mark Ryan scored one of the points and Keith Ryan scored the other two points to leave five points between the sides at end of the game.
Sean McAuliffe Secretary of Limerick Football Board, thanked both teams for a very exciting game, he thanked John Scully (Galbally) referee and his officials, he thanked Garryspillane GAA for the use of their field and he congratulated Dromcollogher/ Broadford on doing the double this year. Sean presented the cup an overjoyed Bob Boyce captain of Dromcollogher/ Broadford.
Bob thanked Pallasgreen for a great game, he thanked the referee and his officials, he thanked Knocklong for the use of their field and he thanked the management team of Dinny Scollard, Jim Barry and Christine McCarthy, the team for hard work during the year. He dedicated the cup to the late Kevin O'Donnell RIP who was selector on this team.

To Limerick VEC Schools team and especially to our Club Players Brian Noonan, Kevin Noonan (0-1), Michéal Brosnan (1-0) and John Barrett they defeated Kerry VEC on a scoreline of 2-12 to 2-08 in the Munster B Football Final they will now play Cork in the A Final on Friday December 4th, more details during the week.
To Newtownshandrum Senior Hurlers who defeated Ballygunner (Waterford), on a scoreline of 2-11 to 2-09, in the Munster Senior Club Hurling Championship Final and the best of luck in the All-Ireland series in the new year.
Race Night
The Annual Race Night for the above club was held in Skullers Bar, Dromcollogher, on last Friday night, a great night was had by all who attended the race night, the race winners on the night were: Race 1: Macsmile Mai Nunan was the trainer and the owner and the jockey was Gene Nunan, Race 2: Morning Glory Marion Stack was the owner, trainer and jockey of this horse, Race 3: Muddy Waters owner Marty Stokes trainer Lisa Lane and jockey Katie Stokes.
