St. Kieran's College have been crowned All-Ireland PP SH 'A' champions for a record 19th time after seeing off their local rivals Kilkenny CBS in this evening's final at Nowlan Park.

Billed as the battle of champions after they had won the Leinster league and championship respectively earlier this year, Kieran's avenged their provincial final defeat thanks to a dominant second half display. Kieran's centre back Darren Mullen was awarded the man of the match award after an outstanding performance against a CBS side for who his brother Kevin was a substitute!

With Luke Scanlon to the fore, CBS settled quickest and had opened up a 0-5 to 0-0 lead before Brian Cody's 14th minute goal brought the winners to life. CBS kept their noses in front until just before half-time when Conor Murphy's free sent the sides into the break on level terms, 1-4 to 0-7.

Scanlon had the Leinster champions two up, 0-9 to 1-4, early in the second half, but the game took a decisive turn in Kieran's favour when Conor O'Carroll's 32nd minute goal gave them the lead for the first time, 2-4 to 0-9.

Scanlon levelled with his fifth point from play, but it was all Kieran's after that as Liam Smith's side avenged their Leinster final defeat in impressive fashion.

CBS centre back Evan Cody was lucky to escape with just a yellow card in the 52nd minute for a frontal challenge on direct opponent Liam Blanchfield.
