NHL 2: Laois goals down Kingdom

April 17, 2011
Laois 4-15
Kerry 1-15

A brace of goals in each half proved enough for Laois to see off Kerry's challenge in a dead rubber clash in Tralee this afternoon and pick up their fourth win of the NHL Division Two campaign.

The O'Moore men were inspired by their marksman Willie Hyland and midfielder Sean Bourke, who struck a major in each half as they comfortably disposed of a Kerry outfit which had avoided relegation coming into this clash.

A Garry Reddan goal had Laois in the driving-seat early on and the points of Hyland made sure that the hosts were kept at a distance throughout the first-half. Bourke struck for his first goal to stretch the Laois lead, as they went in at the break with a 2-7 to 0-6 advantage.

John Meyler's men came out for the second-half with a bit more purpose about them and a Aidan Boyle goal on five minutes brought them right back in the hunt.

However, Laois were far from finished down the other end and well-taken goals from Bourke and Owen Holohan saw them cruise to victory in the end.
