We had an old gentleman down here in Portarlington by the name of McEvoy. He played for both Offaly and Leinster and was by all accounts a brilliant footballer. However, he was simply known as "Chunk". Just got me wondering is there many other past and present day footballers and hurlers out there with such unsual nicknames? When 'the gooch' was growing up there was a doll called a 'goochy' doll. It had the same red hair as him. Hence the nickname. mediaman (Antrim) - Posts: 355 - 14/06/2015 12:10:07 1736561 Link 0 |

GAA nicknames are one of my pet hates, especially when posters on here use them as if they're best mates with the lads. Breffni40 (Cavan) - Posts: 12321 - 10/05/2017 17:46:34 1985757 Link 0 |
