Don't see an issue here. I have no problem with our lads wearing white socks over their socks :) St.Conleth (Kildare) - Posts: 1723 - 14/03/2013 10:40:03 1349237 Link 0 |
I would be happy to subtract a point for each white sock that appears on the field. TheMaster (Mayo) - Posts: 16187 - 14/03/2013 10:45:25 1349243 Link 0 |
What difference does it make what colour socks players wear. We have a serious problem in this country with people being different and a hint of jealously against them. Time for some of the posters on this to move with the times and concentrate on serious issues within the organisation. ballaghmen (Mayo) - Posts: 318 - 14/03/2013 11:20:24 1349272 Link 0 |
'White Socks'........for one Galway man, 129 years of history boils down to this one issue!!! Snufalufagus (Dublin) - Posts: 8100 - 14/03/2013 11:38:33 1349286 Link 0 |

I can't speak for anybody else but the only reason i wear them is the normal socks provide more grip on the inside of my boots than normal o'neills socks, also it provides more cushioning on the foot and is more comfortable than wearing two pairs of football socks. Is this why everyone hates Kildare? doublehop (Kildare) - Posts: 4172 - 14/03/2013 12:11:57 1349328 Link 0 |
The Master, your defense is a stereotype. Your argument is people who wear white socks are flashy and are not able for the more physical aspect of the harder hitting games. Take Ciaran Mc donald, he wore white socks and he was more than able to stand up for himself. Jealously is what your argument is all about, if a player wants to wear pink socks or any colour let him. Players should not be rated on there sense of style but rather their ability. You should be embarrassed that you defend this issue and it shows how narrow minded some people really are. ballaghmen (Mayo) - Posts: 318 - 14/03/2013 12:16:43 1349335 Link 0 |
it allows players to stand out more to those in the stands. I find that it's those who cant allow their playing ability to make them stand out. I've never got round to the idea of taping your wrists either. WillieFrazer (Armagh) - Posts: 38 - 14/03/2013 12:17:28 1349337 Link 0 |
This is one of the most ridiculous threads I have ever come across on this. What difference does it make? You must be fairly bored at games if you are looking at the players socks. westmeath16 (Westmeath) - Posts: 291 - 14/03/2013 12:23:43 1349344 Link 0 |
Ballaghman I ask again, what exactly am I jealous of? Can I not get my hands on white socks or something? TheMaster (Mayo) - Posts: 16187 - 14/03/2013 12:53:36 1349365 Link 0 |

I would also like to see white socks gotten rid of. pumakinglover (Roscommon) - Posts: 11 - 14/03/2013 14:26:16 1349452 Link 0 |
Whatever about white socks being worn over the football socks, I absolutely despise the wearing of the white (tennis-like) socks on their own without any football socks during a match. You wouldnt see it at intercounty level, but theres a fair bit of it going on at Club level. Well, there is in Offaly anyway. Do any other counties have this ridiculous phenomenon?
