If we are serious about the promotion of our games wider than Ireland then there is only one way that is going to happen- the involvement of Sky Sports! The way NFL and Darts (and to a lesser extent snooker) has risen in profile in the UK is down to one thing-Sky Sports. Imagine the impact having a ten minute slot everyday on Sky Sports News would have on children watching it in the UK (as a start). Last year SSN ran an article on London's progress in the qualifiers and that caused a great deal of positive publicity. I'm well aware that some may see this as a dilution of our amateur status but let's be honest there is a few grey areas in that matter anyway so why not start getting real about the international promotion of the game? Britain isn't the only other country on the planet, so there is probably more than only one way it can happen. Marlon_JD (Tipperary) - Posts: 1823 - 07/02/2012 18:49:18 1107511 Link 0 |

Britain would be a good place to start, there's already a fairly healthy GAA scene in England but that can grow and I don't see why Sky Sports couldn't take it on during the summer months when the championship is in full swing and there's no English soccer on. SSN are running a coaching expose on Saturday mornings, however, I have yet to receive a response to an email sent to them over a month ago about Gaelic Games in Britain and, since I'm in Yorkshire, about our games in Yorkshire. Carnaross (None) - Posts: 189 - 07/02/2012 20:04:52 1107574 Link 0 |

Im baffled as to why promoting football and hurling abroad is needed at all? Its seems like outside recognition is so important to some people FairShoulder (Armagh) - Posts: 333 - 08/02/2012 09:19:00 1107676 Link 0 |

I assumed this was about promoting gaelic games to non-Irish - why is that important? FairShoulder (Armagh) - Posts: 333 - 08/02/2012 15:27:30 1107910 Link 0 |
