The Biggest Game in Town

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Just spotted a thread on this on another forum. Hadn't occured to me before:

The double header in Croke Park tomorrow night will have a bigger attendance than the rugby international!

Queues outside the ticket office in Dorset Street this morning. Could be 70,000.

It has really caught the imagination. Four of the top 5/6 teams in the country with a good chance that one of them will win it this year.

Big factor from our end in clubs is that the many supporters espeically kids who didn't get to the final are going to this. Bit of celebration I suppose as well and a fiver for under 16s! Excellent PR job by the GAA. Hats off :-)

I've forgotten the rugby is on this weekend. I'd have a passing interest in the game but football wins all the time, even if it is only the league!

Anything around 30K is a good result. Anything up to 40K and beyond would be excellent!

It holds 50K. Seems Croker are expecting 40K for Saturday the ticket sales have been going and predicting the walk in crowd as a result. Jaysus it would be gas if we can more than the Rugby International.

According to today's Metro Herald, around 40,000 are expected to show up

And comparing it to Sunday's attendance in the Aviva for the 6 Nations is utterly irrelvant - 6 Nations tickets are like goldust & virtually impossible to get, to the extent that they're rarely, if ever on general sale to the public via Ticketmaster or whatever, and that was even when they played the matches in Croker, much less a stadium with a capacity of 30,00 less.

If the Aviva could hold 100,000, it would still be full on Sunday

As for tomorrow, it would be great to see 70,000 in Croker but I reckon you'll have to wait till championship for that if you were to be realistic about it

But here's hoping I'm wrong

40,000 for a league match is fantastic

Fair play to our County Board once again spear heading Spring Series Part 2 and creating a great awarness and buzz around our games.

You're all very welcome.

If the Irish International rules team were playing this weekend now it'd be another matter. Or else if it was a head to had weekend of Leinster Rugby and Dublin playing in the city, not necessarily on the same night but a comparison of attendances would be fair to a degree.

Hopefully we get 50,000, can I just also say best of luck to Craig Dias, it's a historic night for him and his family and ireland,no doubt the start of many people from other races playing for all the counties of Ireland, which I think will be great for our country. Again all the best young Dias.
