The Mystery of NHL Division One B

(Oldest Posts First)

I am a bit confused here, I was under the impression that the winner of division 1B in the hurling this year would join the top 3 in division 1A in the national league semi finals. I was checking master fixtures lists on two websites when trying to schedule a holiday and they both said that there would be a 1B final between the top two in the division on 8th of April.

Can anyone shed any light on this...............?

Is the winner of 2B getting a chance to join the top 3 in 2A to battle for the division 2 title?

not too sure on that one to be honest. when wexford, limerick and the division 1A teams opposed the new national league format, (wexford and limerick on the grounds that they weren't in the top flight and the 1A teams on the grounds that they wouldn't be playing enough games) the suits revisited the issue and their solution was to award the winner of division 1B a place in the semi finals alongside the top 3 of division 1A. not too sure if this filtered down the divisions or even if its still the caes - that whats i'm trying to find out!

Division 1B might as well be division 2 when is promotion/relegation up to 1A is the same as the promotion/relegation down to 2A.

ok i think ihave it - the top two in division 1B do play a final and the winner of THAT game goes on into the semi finals along with the top three in division 1A. i think thats it anyway!

don't think that its the same setup in the lower hurling divisions though...

I suppose the idea is that with a strong enough Div 1B the step up for the promoted county wouldn't be so severe & also that the team being relegated from 1A won't view demotion as such a death sentence. Eventually both divisions would be strong & competitve. Lets see how it pans out for this season anyway.

Personally if there's A and B divisions, there should be two up and down between them. The flow of teams from 1A and 1B for example should be more than the flow of teams from 1B to 2A.

That could yet come to pass in the next few years.
