Isnt it mad to think that since 1983 Dublin have not played Galway a single time in the championship! Considering the fact that between us we have won so many Provincial Crowns in that time, we have not met once! And in my life time, I am 32, I have only ever seen Dublin play Mayo in the championship ONCE! So in nearly 30 years, between Connachts two big guns, Dublin (who have nearly 15 I think of the top of my head Leinsters) have only met either of them once!!! i think the back door system with its "quarter finals" have put paid to the traditional inter-provincial rivalries. s goldrick (Cavan) - Posts: 5524 - 01/02/2012 15:09:21 1103623 Link 0 |

Don't worry Liam, we'll be meeting you guys in August this year, and the result will be different from 83 as we march onwards towards Sam!!!! :-) tribeinbrum (Galway) - Posts: 4155 - 01/02/2012 16:18:07 1103685 Link 0 |

When galway were in their prime from 1998-2002 they played all the big boys except for Dublin.Really wanted them to play eachother but at the moment I dont think galway would make much of a game of it. TheRoad (Galway) - Posts: 1339 - 01/02/2012 18:32:55 1103825 Link 0 |

As l stated here a few days ago, Mayo no longer have any competition in Connacht..subsequently we are tailoring training to enable us to peak in August/September. There is a good chance that we will be meeting Dublin this year, and indeed over the next few years as both counties look set to dominate the next era, Where the noughties threw up the Kerry/Tyrone rivalry, the 10's should see Mayo/Dublin, with occasional efforts from Cork.
