Hogan Stand Vigilantism

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

How can the honourable, righteous and sincere posters oust the troublemakers and the wind up merchants? There is very little of this on separate forums, our beloved HoganStand just seems to be plagued at the moment. The troublemaking takes a number of forms:

Abject and blatant racism shown to Irish people in the north.
Blaming innocent people for the economic disaster.
Hi-Jacking threads from their original meaning.
Turning each thread into a farcical nonsense.

I am calling for the people who care about the GAA, who have an interest in maintaining the integrity of this site, to join me in this quest to rid the forum of its abusers. Policies in the past have failed, i.e ignoring the WUMS, as people will always rise to the bait and respond, and who can blame them, verbal attacks on their communities are unacceptable.

I recall a HS Union was once established, and a separate rival union of which I was made secretary (or something), but they have fallen by the wayside, so I feel duty bound as someone who has been here quite some time to SAVE OUR SITE! Sad was the day when so many HS stalwarts decided to abandon the sinking ship that is HS, we have lost so many posters who were of genuine quality, only to be replaced by poisonous villains who are tarnishing this sites reputation. Today for example, I noticed Derryman conveying his disgust at the deterioration of this site, Derryman of course, probably the best poster these forums have ever seen.

So, whos with me?

Quite right Slash.

However it is difficult as many do not know what a discussion or opinion is.

If I say "George Best is the best footballer I have seen" and someone else thinks David Beckham is better, well and good.

But do not call me a "Wum" for believing in George.

That happens, not just with me but with everyone, because some people think there is a "right and wrong" in a debate.

That is plainly not true so it can be difficult to maintain order when some have to be "right" all the time.

Glad to say I have NEVER been right on this site. Stands to reason, if there is no "right or wrong" to a debate.

Fair enough Pat but there are some real d*cks on this site now who are ruining it with their duplicitous names and WUMMING. If I say ANYTHING about the 26 from the roads to the price of a pint I get accused of being partitionist and anti-Southern when I am far from it.

Allow me to be your leader through this battle to root out for once and for all those who make a mockery of this site!

I am the longest serving poster on the board and as you are well aware have my own political party the N.I.P.s (National Irish Party, Snufalufagus) which will unite both north and south which has been destroyed by some on this forum! The N.I.P.s will serve as a vehicle for change!
I have already written a book which most of you are aware I re-release every Christmas and advertise on the 'GAA Christmas Present Books' thread which is called 'Snufalufagus - My road to becoming a Laochra Gael'!!

We need to stand up against WUMs and one liner merchants whom I like to call 'OLMs' and take this board back to its glory days of 2006/2007 when the board was on fire with debate from some of the greatest posters ever to click a mouse button and the craic was ninety!!

So lets take back our board and hope all these WUMs and OLMs clear off for good!......whos with me??!!

Regards,

Snufalufagus....Laochra Gael

Simply calling those whose views you diagree with a 'WUM' is what is ruining this site. It's lazy and kills debate

It's the ultra religious / nationalists who end up dominating every thread no matter the subject, it's quite boring

Ah, I wondered when you'd appear.

You see I and others have no issue with alternative views, I have an issue however with people slandering their fellow Irishmen and women just because they live in an occupied area. There is no call for it, and people who engage in this should be banned, as it is abject racism plain and simple.

Another thing I and others have a problem with is hi-jacking threads. On any given subject, there are those who barge in and fire yet another insult at a fellow poster, based on which county he represents, and there you have it, an argument ensues and the thread is finished.

I have taken it upon myself to be the voice of the silent majority who secretly would love to rid the place of people who I shall not name (you know who you are).

Good idea but as we can see a WUM as already declared himself the leader. It is hard to ignore WUMS but that is the only way we can defeat them

Slash i agree there are some on this site who can get your goat up but i have learned after getting involved in some silly arguements to just ignore them now
this is still imo a great GAA forum with alot of great posters and the good ones out number the bad ones 10-1
@Ulsterman i think that some of the threads you start and i highlight ONLY some decend into silly one liners and personal attacks is because and this is just my opinion that you have a severe dislike of everything from the south i dont know if that really is the case but is does come across that way i hope i'm wrong
I'll reiterate that i think HS is still one of the best forums around

So you want to promote debate through censorship...well interesting approach, best of luck

As a relative newcomer to hogan stand via eleven a side,it is frustrating that every debate goes down the same road,of course there also are posters using multiple names and other posters with their ultra republican agendas, how do we combat the stifling of good honest debate?moderators start banning the wums and obvious multiple posters.Make Patrique chief of police, although obviously looking for a bite at times,he has to be the wittiest and least sectarian poster on the boards.Oh no now people will be calling Patrique and myself one and the same.

Why do you think there are moderators? To censor.....DUUUUUHHH!!!

Believe me if we had freedom of speech on this forum, if we could say what we like using whatever language, I would not be typing in such eloquent and reserved fashion.

Jackie blue, Seanie boy,

Good points gentlemen, from two genuine posters whom I respect. It does indeed rest with the moderators to ban troublemakers, but nothing is being done in any way, shape or form to limit the drivel coming from a select few. We have posters from a diverse range of backgrounds, republicans, socialists, conservatives, athiests, Christians, unionist (thats yourself jackie), the list goes on and it is useful to have such a site where different perspectives on things can be played off against one another.

Debating is an excellent form of interaction, and the non GAA forum should be preserved for sincere and honest opinions. The GAA forum does not seem to suffer half as much, and I suspect this is because the WUMS know very little about GAA.

No WUMs on the GAA section?! Are you serious? Have you read a hurling thread recently? A fellow county man has them all destroyed with post after post of utter rubbish.

ballboy in all his guises and Plonker are clearly not who they say they are and are only using this site to wind people up. This should be obvious to the admins and maybe it is a case of they go or we go? this probably wont be posted despite many many anti northern catholic or nationalist posts from the above mentioned
