I was at the All Ireland Final yesterday and was sitting in the Lower Cusack beside a man who said he had 10 year All Ireland Final tickets. gaa1951 (Mayo) - Posts: 3 - 06/09/2010 19:50:46 766898 Link 0 |

gaa1951, these are final only tickets, as far as I know you hold the right to buy a seat for 10 years, and buy each year at face value. They are limited, and I've had my name on the list for 8 years now, and still being told a good number ahead of me. Existing holders have 1st refusal, so very few come up for grabs, and I think they are sold by section of croke park, so any one section only comes round once every 10 years. My father had 10 year hurling final tickets (won them in a local club draw) and managed to get them swopped every year for football tickets thru another local club, however he was not the holder, and when the 10 years were up, the club raffled them again. My uncle got one many years back (and he is far from a snob as someone has suggested). He swaps his hurling ticket everyyear for a football one with a kilkenny man he met who also has the ten year ticket. Derry_ledd (Derry) - Posts: 2093 - 06/09/2010 20:44:05 767000 Link 0 |
You can't buy the 10 year tickets for the Lower Cusack anymore. There is no waiting list. They were brought out in the mid-90's (1995 I think) to help pay off the Cusack Stand development. They have been renewed since that. So if you had one but didn't renew it after the 10 years, that was it finished, it is now back in general circulation. The idea being that over time the tickets will return to the GAA. But I won't be letting go of mine in a hurry! EnolaGay (Tyrone) - Posts: 653 - 06/09/2010 21:13:03 767050 Link 0 |
I know that clubs can buy 10 year tickets. These are for both AI finals only. The present allocation cost 5000 euro for 2 tickets, usually Cusack 306-309.I think there is another 4-5 yrs left in them. Frances56 (Dublin) - Posts: 378 - 08/09/2010 17:49:03 769127 Link 0 |
1o Year tickets are finals and final replays only. People who purchased them for the first time after Cussack stand development are due to renew in 2013 whilst original 10 year ticket holders are due to renew the following year. They cost around 1,500 to 1800 irish punts to renew last time around if I remember correctly, depending on the location. Used to be great value in the early days (First issued 1958) when they always used to work at a discount to the face value before the term was up, but thats not the case any more. They work out a very expensive ticket nowaday, even taking the whole term into account. The big advantage is just the fact you are sure of a final ticket every year if you are wish to invest your money that way. glenhead (UK) - Posts: 117 - 08/09/2010 21:06:32 769374 Link 0 |
