It is indeed good to see that the team it is backboned by players from decent hurling clubs, but one thing which is disappointing is that there is only one Rathnure man on the panel, they seem to be declining as a hurling force which is a sad situation for Wexford hurling.

I stand corrected! But there was a time when underage teams were backboned by Rathnure players, and as a club they set the bar at underage hurling. Doesnt seem the case any more which is a pity, considering they are our most successful hurling club.

Whats meant by '' Decent Hurling Club''

Is if your are from a club thats not rated regardless of your talent you should not be considered ????

The Rathnure catchement area has suffered from a decline in numbers in the schools over the past decade and this has impacted on the success of teams . They are still capable of producing talented hurlers but they will struggle at team level because they will be picking over 3or 4 years where by the better teams pick form 1/2 years.

Rtahnure will have more in common with your average rural clubs.

Remember even Buffers Alley and Oulart have small numbers at some age levels .

The rise of Glynn Shels and St Martins at undergae has much to do with the expansion of populations in their catchement areas.

Outside of that you are an accident of birth from having an excellent team or struggling to field a team.

Given KK are dominating the colleges is there a risk this great white hope of a minor title won`t be reached?
