This is a great idea chips. Il have a crack at the football one so cas god knows id struggle to find 15 good hurlers in this county. My team is as follows:

GK: Sean Kiely(Bruff) .. just about from seamus, prob just for kick outs
RCB: Johnny McCarthy(St Kiernans)
FB: John Keane(Ahane)
LCB: Ger O'Connor(Fr Caseys)
RHB: Stephen Lavin(Adare)
CB: Stephen Lucey(Croom)
LHB: Conor Mullane(St Senans); .. mullane on the form he showed 2-3 years ago, injurys have hampered him lately
MF: John Galvin(Croom);John Quane(Galtee Gaels)
RHF: Paddy Barrett(Askeaton);
CF: Donal Fitzgibbon(Oola);
LHF: Seanie Buckley(Drom Broad); .. wasn't a fan but in 2009 he really impressed me
RCF: Timmy Cummins(Galbally);
FF: Muris Gavin(Monaleen);
LCF: Fintan Ryan(Askeaton); .. strange call not to pick reidy, but although amazing at club level reidy has never shone for limerick

The above selection is taken from a competition run in selected Limerick newspapers. The public can choose their selection in the paper and post in their team. The winners will be honoured at a Gala ceremony in the Strand Hotel Limerick on 16th of October.

Why couldn't Ian Ryan be nominated at no 15? He has played there a lot. As it is the candidates for this position are relatively weak. On the other hand we have Donal Fitzgibbon, one of our greatest ever players and Ian Ryan, one of the most exciting players ever to don the green & white nominated for the same position... It doesn't make sense...

I would agree with you about Mc Loughlin but according to the papers it players who played for Limerick at Senior Level and for some strange reason he was always overlooked for Limerick

1. Sean Kiely (Bruff) - although I think Mike McLoughlin (Glin) was the county's best goalie over the period

5. Gerry Collins (Milford)
6. Stephen Lucey(Croom)

Yeah, no nomination of Mick Quish from Galbally??? He won a Railway cup at mid-field for Munster in 1978, when he was just 18 yrs old , still in Leaving Cert. He certainly played well into the 1980's with Limk, and beyond the 1984 deadline for this contest. He played a lot of good football at full-forward as well as mid-field and should have been nominated there; a lot better player than any of those nominated for no.14. Who are the people who nominated these 45 footballers? Journalists, I'm sure, most of whom don't know their ***** from their elbows when it comes to Limerick football. As readers and voters we deserve transparency in knowing who this "selection committee" is...
