Are the best players in the county playing for any of these teams mentioned, with belcoo and devenish sharing the last 2 league titles respectivley and erne gaels winning the intermediate championship last year, surely they must be the most consistant teams in the county at the minute and should some of their better players be given a chance at county level (with the exception of lyons and o'brien from belleek who currently are in the setup) fman123 (Fermanagh) - Posts: 72 - 07/05/2009 13:36:18 277159 Link 0 |
LOL how cocky can one get. Ferm123 from the humpty dumpty brigade is suffering from tunnel vision. Were the Belleek senior potters not humilated by underdogs, Derrylin in their last outing? So where are this specil potter players? The Belcoo humpty dumpties may think they on top at the moment but if the Leonard bros head off to the USA in a few weeks what is their senior outfit left with? The answer is not much in terms of quality. Anyway the humpty dumpties are well known for sliding once the season progresses towards the end and there is real pressure from the better teams. The Melvins lads are the only respectable club of the three you refer to. Among the best Devenish have are Barry Mulrone, Joe O'Brien and their up-and-coming star Chris O'Brien. These lads are top in terms of quality and without them Devenish would drop to div 2. lrvinestownGael (Fermanagh) - Posts: 847 - 07/05/2009 14:11:35 277208 Link 0 |
You must have relations in Devenish. irlande (Fermanagh) - Posts: 535 - 07/05/2009 14:56:30 277254 Link 0 |
I am not being cocky lrvinestownGael seen as I have only been living in the county for 3 years, I was giving an accurate account of what iv seen in that period it just seems to me that, that area of the county has the most consistant teams!! fman123 (Fermanagh) - Posts: 72 - 07/05/2009 18:03:07 277476 Link 0 |
irvinestown gael you have it wrong. it is only one of the leonard brothers going to the US along with another player who hasn't played properly for belcoo this year. and if you looked at the results a few weeks back we beat Derrygonnely without all four leonard brothers who were away. the belcoo team doesn't revolve around a select number of players unlike your team who rely heavily on goan. that is why it is so successful from underage up to senior over the last number of years. pater_pan (Fermanagh) - Posts: 1 - 09/05/2009 13:18:12 278984 Link 0 |
Belcoo might have been missing the four leonard brothers but Derrygonnelly were missing a bagful of players that day too including the wards. howshecuttin08 (Fermanagh) - Posts: 207 - 11/05/2009 11:38:25 279936 Link 0 |
Belcoo this season have shown all the qualities of been title contenders. They are not playing well but they are getting results and along with Newtownbutler they remain unbeaten. Currently sitting at the top of Division 1 without performing to their best and with the likes of Shane McCabe and Paul McGrath still to return, this season could see the league title return to Belcoo following a short loan to our neighbours Devenish. Wel i don't think we can judge belleek yet. I think this year will tell the tale for them. A good run in the Championship could give them huge confidence for their promotion but its hard to look past Donagh in the first round!!!! As for Devenish and Belcoo I think they are the 2 most consistent teams! Yes, Belcoo may have started well but the league champs have also considering they are missing key men. Sean Burns and Barry Mulrone carrying knocks while Martin O'Brien is suspended for a month after some very questionable and dodgy umpiring. I think the Humptys for the league but the Melvin men have bigger fish to fry in my opinion as winning the championship and so fourth. I doubt they would be too concerned about the league this year but if they want to win the championship they have stiff competition with Enniskillen or Belcoo facing them in the quater final!!! ernewanderer (Fermanagh) - Posts: 27 - 11/05/2009 22:40:07 280535 Link 0 |
