The Non GAA Thread

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Ok lads, we used to have war in the last place with some people having a serious problem with non GAA topics being discussed on the site. Personally I think so long as its in moderation its not a problem, but in order to stop it, why not have a thread dedicated to any non GAA matters. Wanna talk soccer/rugby/politics/films etc, throw it in here and we can all have a discussion.
How does that sound lads?
Man Ure for the League, Chelsea for the CL, Rangers for the treble, Munster for the HC, Leinster for the CL, Sunderland to stay up, Everton to come fifth, Bertie to be gone by Christmas, No country for old men was the most over rated film of all time.

(and so forth) ! ;)

Gonna do a "psychic shinners" corner.
United to beat Arsenal 2-1 in Champions League final.
Bertie to be gone before September.
A long cold wet summer.
Joe Brolly to punch Colm O'Rourke at half time in All Ireland semi final between Meath and Derry.
Pat Spillane to praise Dublin and/or the style of Northern football.
Hell freezing over.

Happy April Fools Day

Yep Shinners - all extremely plausible except No 2. No way The Man is going before Alan Brogan lifts Sam in the Hogan next September :-)

Lets say I had to put a pin code for all the Sky,Setanta and RTE 2,The Adult Channel and Playboy channels.Did not wish to have my children witness that kind of carry on.Now The Adult Channel and Playboy were not the worst.Kissing and cuddling in the soccer and men putting their hands up between others legs in Rugby was going too far.

Some goal by Ronaldo! Took a while to convince me but now, hands up, class. Totti was a huge loss last night. That lad they had up from was woeful. Reminded me of Adriano, one foot pony!!
Munster Glaws this weekend. Very hopeful for the boys in red. Tipoki is a huge boost. Was never a Ma'ifi fan but this year, with a class act like Rua beside him he is looking the business. He is Halstead and then some! Dougie is Dougie, a living legend. Carney is the worry. Hasnt adapted to Union atall so far, but Chr**t I would start myself over Ian Dowling! If Munster win the set pieces they have the players out wide to win this, then its Ospreys in Cardiff. Someone in ERC doesnt want Munster to win this, never stopped them before! ;)

As a pool fan I have a gut feeling that everton will finish fourth. Next weekend will tell a lot as Liverpool have arsenal and everton have already relegated derby to play. If everton finish fourth and we win the champions league will they still go through to the qualifiers?

As an Everton fan, trust me, we wont get fourth, I am doubting if we will get fifth at this point.
One thing tho, grew up and avid Evertonian. Supported them thru thick and thin despite liverpool supporting brothers and cousins!
They were always muck, but I loved them...now....they are bloody good and my appetite is gone....why....this is why....
That baby's not yours....that babys not yours....oh s***** G*****.....that babys not yours. Bloody Disgraceful. Add that to the infamous chant of Die Die R***y you can die.....

You know something, they are not worth supporting.

Even Mayo wouldnt do that.....would they?

Agree but one would have to ask what them fans said to Phil neville on the touchline during the match too...just part and parcel. I take it you've never been to an old firm then?

Liam,

Have you been to the bluekipper.com website? Some interesting views on there about the Stevie G songs. The Kop were singing about Lee Carsley's disabled kid, Cahill's brother in jail, and Lescott's scar. Phil Neville got punched and spat on. Don't forget, also, it was the Kop that first sang the Munich '58 song. They weren't always muck, either. What about the mid 80's team? Who knows what we'd have gone on to if it hadn't been for the ban, caused by, can you remind me? And which was the last team outside the "big 4" to win the FA Cup?

Avid Evertonian myself there Liam. The reason your not feeling it when their riding high?? You're familiar with the taunt of bitter blue? You're just too used to being underdog.

I thought Yak was terrible on Sunday. Didn't try a leg. Now if we could get Jagielka to step in as full back for the Dubs? Would you moderate the pessimism.

What are you talking about Liam, Mayo fans are who the Millwall firm is based on!! I hear the number of wooden spoon beatings has increased significantly out there, next they'll move onto the real hard stuff of a sack stuffed with door knobs!! My god in no time it'll be like boyz in the hood out in Westport, drive bys (in their Masse Ferguson's) where the victims are hit with the biggest spuds you've ever seen.

Ah no, in all seriousness I don't think GAA will ever get that bad as what it is in soccer. But there are nasty elements all over the country. Its up to us as real GAA followers to stand up to these tossers when we can.

Brave words of course but it sounded like the right thing to say ;-)
