Clubs with unusual names

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I remember a thread a few years ago about clubs with unusal names. Longford Slashers and Termonfeckin were the two Irish based clubs that stuck out for me, but my favourite is an Ayrshire club (ironically, given the name, now defunct) The Invincibles. I suppose Ballymun Kickhams would be in there, also. There is also a club in America called Sinn Fein, which I found strange as I thought the rules barred any club being named after anything political.

Square Circles GAA club in Fermanagh is a fairly strange one I always thought.
Also Nice Dancers in Leitrim is not a very common club name.

i cant see anything really strange about some of these names! ballymun are named after charles joseph kickham, nothing really unusual. and sinn fein isnt that unusual seeing as the name means we ourselves, i think its a good name to call a club. termonfeckin is the name of the place so it couldnt be unusual to call the club that!. but i do find the invincibles a bit odd

Does anyone know if Nobber have ever played Muff? The press would have a field day with that fixture.

A more appropriate name for a hurling club would you think.
